Vaginal Discharge
Vaginal discharge is very common in a women life. It could be white, clear, stetchy, or sticky. It may be there on some days and not on others. Usually this discharge is normal. You out of all people should know your body best. Getting to know your vaginal discharge can help you make sure when something is wrong. I am going to be explaining different types of vaginal discharges you may or may not experience. Some are normal and others are not. Having discharge is not synonymous with having a sexually transmitted infection. Discharge can happen for a variety of different reasons. Also many STIs do not cause any changes in discharge.
Normal Discharge
These types of discharge can be considered "Normal" .
Cervical Mucus
Throughout your menstrual cycle your cervix ( the opening of the uterus) makes different types of discharge or mucus. You may start to see this discharge after your period ends. At first it is cloudy in color and can be stretched between two fingers about a quarter inch or less or not even at all. As you get closer to ovulation ( when the egg comes out your ovary and goes into your Fallopian tube) the mucus may get clearer and can be stretched to more then an inch.
These changes in mucous help sperm survive longer and assist them in traveling through the body to fertilize the egg. The clear discharge is usually a sign of fertility - it lets you know there's a good chance you could conceive. After ovulation occurs, this mucus tends to get thicker and dry up.
Note: This is essential to know when trying to conceive. Recording your cervical mucus daily in the evening is the best way to learn when you ovulate. It may take a few months to record before you learn your ovulation date.

Sexual Arousal Fluid
When your are sexual excited, your vagina makes a fluid that is cloudy and clear and feels wet. This fluid makes penetration easier and enjoyable. We all make different amounts of sexual arousal fluid. So if you feel that your are not very moist you may want to be more stimulated before penetration and/or use a water based lubricant.
Note: If trying to conceive, most lubricants aren't sperm friendly. Sperm friendly lubricants are Pre-Seed, Yes Baby, Conceive Plus, Conceive Ease, Zestica Fertility.

Female Ejaculation
Sometimes you may feel like your going urinate when your having sex, or you may think you actually urinated. Usually what this means is that you are about to or already have ejaculated. Rarely it is urine. Inside your vaginal there is a gland that makes this ejaculation fluid. Sometimes when you are sexually excited this fluid is secreted or sprayed out. This secretion is very wet and may look like urine but is chemically different.
Female ejaculation can happen with or without orgasm, and is generally very enjoyable. Not all women ejaculate and this is very normal. There are different books and classes available if you want to learn how to ejaculate.

Abnormal Discharge
Non-Sexual Causes
Your vagina is a Self-cleaning, self-protecting organ. There are different micro-organisms (e.g. bacteria and yeast) that naturally live there. They work together in balance to protect you from infections. Sometimes this balance can change causing Abnormal Discharge. You may smell different then you usually do or you may be itchy and red.
Causes of this imbalance include allergic reactions, your overall health and diet, as well as medications. For example, antibiotics can kill "good" bacteria in the vagina allowing yeast and unwanted bacteria to overgrow.
Often these imbalances involve a change to the pH of your vagina (how acidic it is). Factors that also play a roll in your pH change are hormonal changes, menstrual blood, sexual activity, using soap or other chemicals such as douching.
A very common vaginal infection/imbalance is Bacteria Vaginosis (BV). Symptoms, if present include extra discharge and a different smell. While BV is not a sexually transmitted infection, sexual activity can bring it on because bacteria from other parts of your own body can enter your vagina causing imbalance.
